Hey!
Have searched and read several threads regarding this problem, but still not any any wiser...
I got the tach (rpm) sympthom at first. Went to zero when at idle. Then got normal again after a short while.
Didn't think much of it other than it was strange... Several days later I got the red Check Gauges while driving. Stopped and read codes. p0341, cam position sensor. The car then didn't want to start again. The starter wouldn't crank, but it didn't turn, just tried to. Tried with a booster and after some minutes of charging it started and ran just fine. Got the red lamp after a while again.
Ordered new sensor and got my local shop to install it.
When I was going to take it home it had the same problem. Wouldn't start. Had to use a booster again. On the way back home (300 meters) I got the red check gauges lamp again. Since then it has just been parked at my house...
Somethimes before changing the cps it started just fine without booster, but I did never know if it was going to start or not.
Any tips for me? When I get home for the summer I am going to check the grounds I can get access to. And check the ECM connector for corroding. Don't know if the mechanic did clean the contact going to the CPS, but if I can get the connector off I will try to clean that one to. May have to check the batteries too. . Other things?
The car is a Dodge Ram 2001 quad cab 5,9 cummins. Mounted Edge Juice w/attitude.
Any help appriciated! Thanx!
regards
Knut Leo
