Another ALASKA adventure starting...

Will be heading out to Burnsville in a couple of weeks with the cabover for a family get together. We are scattered from shore to shore and Mom is in a Nursing home in Farmington. Looking for campsites within 30 min. or so south of Minneapolis. Every one else is flying out and staying in a hotel around Burnsville. I wanted to have a cook out by a lake or stream one evening. Checking on line I found Lebamon Hills Campground witch looks ok but no lake side spots. Any info for the area would be appreciated.

I live two miles from Lebanon Hills. Our out of town guests often stay there and it's one of the nicest campgrounds in the area. Lebanon Hills CG is not next to any lakes so there's no lakeshore sites available. You are very close to both Burnsville and Farmington. Most lakeshore RV parks are quite a ways north of the Twin Cities. Other than a lack of lakeshore, I think you would like it. If you do decide on Lebanon Hills, a reservation is a good idea. The park is often filled this time of the year.

Thanks Dieselnerd. Figured that's as good as it will get, so made reservations Went out there about 3 years ago and the round trip cost about $500 in fuel. Now my estimates are almost 3 times that .

Try checking into Cannon Falls area. It is just south of Farmington on 52 and about 20 minutes out. I lived there for 3 monthes several years ago and if memory recalls they had a really nice park with camping available on a river or stream. It would be much easier to commute into Farmington than from Burnsville.
