Long Bed Truck + Short Bed Camper = ?

Getting weighed

I was going to use my father in laws fifth wheel trailer and pull it with my dually. Here is whare the problem is, he uses a 2500 ram v10 I want to use my dually but his truck is about four inches lower than mine. the bottom edge of the overhang that extends over the truck is 60" I have 59" to the top edge of my tailgate. The pin box is 48" off the ground and the pin is about 44. 5" off the ground. I see NO way I can use my truck. I am not going if I have to use his. If I used mine wouldnt I have an extreme nose up attitude on the trailer?? I know I can lower my truck but I dont want to. I dont know maybee we will just stay in hotels. The wife will be ****** but I am not using his truck!

HELP:eek:

I'm not quite following you on the measurment stuff but I know that the hitch on the trailer is adjustable and also if you set it down on your truck you may be surprised, dont give up yet, back it up there and take a look at what kind of adjustments you have available to you.

Also you cant measure from the ground up unless the trailer is sitting on level ground ... ... . Kevin

How about raising the trailer by adding blocks between the axle and the springs if the axle is under the spring or swithing the axle from over the sping to under the spring if the axle is over the springs. I did this once when I went from a two wheel drive truck to a four wheel drive truck. The conversion was quite straight forward for the trailer I had.

The truck will settle some, but probably not much with a 3500. Can you set the hitch in the truck without mounting it, put the 5er on it, and get some better measurements?

HTRDHLR, Agree with guys, take your truck overthere, look at the hitch coming down from the trailer--is it a steel box over another steel box with bolts?? if so--that is adjustable upto almost a foot! Some don't have this feature, but alot of them do..... R, J. B. ;)

I will drive there tommorow, road trip, as my inlaws live 150 miles from me:D wish me luck my wife really wants to go camping!!

It looks like it will work. I will set the hitch about 16 inches above the bed floor and that will give me about 7 inches between the bed rail and the underside of the camperOo. Oo.
