I bought a camper link from JC Whitney.

It's a great item, the only problem is the truck cab slopes forward (5-10 degrees off vertical), making the top part of the window further from the camper than the bottom.

The link is the same width all the way around.

The bottom fits snuggly between the camper and truck but there is a gap starting 5/8ths of the way up.

Anybody have a solution, or know of a better link device?

Ted, I bought the "tapered" camper link from JcWhitney. I think they claimed it fits a Phord. My original one was tapered also. Only problem, is the vinyl cover can actually wear the paint off the cab. Fit is ok, but would be better if tapered to 7 inches. At 75 mph, the top tended to get pushed down. I'm going to get a roll of clear tape to put over the clear coat and problem should be solved.

I had a 92 Chevy 1500 with an aftermarket rear sliding window. The window had a channel around the outer edge, over which which fit a rubber gasket. The canopy had no front window, just an opening. The gasket fit around the circumference of the canopy opening, making a weathertight seal regardless of whether the slider was open or not.

2 disadvantages: one, it was kind of a pain to put on and remove (I left the canopy on all the time), and two, the factory rear window had to be cut out (it was glued in) and the replacement sealed in. Also, it cost a few hundred bucks.

Someone from happycampers directed me to the quick change boot co. it's properly tapered and about $40.

AWESOME!

few weeks ago I tested it out. Drove with both "passage" windows open. After diving for an hour I stopped to get a soda and walk the dog, camper was nice and cool!!

If it works this well in the winter it'll make traveling with the camper MUCH more enjoyable! Last winter getting the camper up to bearable temperature at 0 degrees (once I reached my destination) took some time, battery, propane, etc... .
