i'm so new i can't find the "key" but am considering buying a '92 350 LE dually, 4:10 D', at w/ od, well maintained and with 67k mi.

What I would like to know is if there is a problem backing a dually under your average camper? And as I have heard that the AT's can be a problem what can you do to avoid problems? I drove the truck today and see no problems. The owner is checking out the fact that the ABS and brake dash marks are lighting up and the front section of the brake resevoir was down. I am waiting.

Mckay and still thinking.

Welcome to your new home !!!

As for the AT's you should have a FULL service done on them.

Have your line pressure at idle increased to about 60psi, and your WOT pressure set to factory max (104-110psi ???)

This will help reduce slippage and prevent excessive wear and heat.

It may need a band adjustment too. When the transmission service is done have the tech loosen the 10 bolts that hold the VB in place but turning them out about 3 turns. Let the truck sit while the system drains. You well get a much larger amount of old ATF out by loosening the VB bolts. They will need to be torqued in sequence and to EXACT spec. to prevent warping.

When done the drain/filter replacement process, install transmission pan and apply even torque. Do NOT over tighten the transmission pan bolts.

If you want to firm up your shifts a bit, use "true type "F" ATF, or Dexron type II or III. This is a slightly more "aggressive oil" and will firm up your shifts.

A transmission temp gauge is a must, along with EGT and boost gauge.

I do not have a dually so I can't say for sure how you'll make out with loading a standard camper on it. In my case the camper jacks come pretty close to the side of the box/fender.

The only way to know for sure is to measure the overall width of the fender flares and then do the same for the camper jack dimensions. Only then will you know for sure.

BTW, try to get a 'signature' in your user profile. This is really a big help to all of us guys when we try to figure out what recommendations to make to you when you post questions.

If you need help, let me know and I'll help you with that.

Regards, Bob.
