I would rate it easy for a jeep. I would rate it moderate for the dodge due to its length on some tight turns in some areas. There really are only a few areas on the byway proper where you would really need 4x4. It is not what I would call a hardcore trail. Though rain and or snow can take it up a notch or two. The only issue the dodge might have is air. I cant remember the elevation along the route. You may need 4 low so that you can get the turbo to spool up in a few hill areas. While I have, my truck has never been on this loop. My truck has been on some trails in the area. One time up by there my transfer case shift fork was messed up and I could not use 4low. That proved to be an issue at 12k+ feet going slow climbing the shelf road up hill at a few miles an hour. To the point that it just would not go could not get teh turbo so spool. I had to back down the shelf road a few hundred yards to the previous switchback so I could turn around. That was a bit of a white knuckler. For the most part the issues are just rough road, some rocky stretches of road nothing that slow going and careful driving cant take care off.

I have been through the loop in an 02 gmc tahoe (the long version) no issues 2 years ago , jeep liberty in the rain no issue 3 or 4 years ago.
