Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Can a 03 fan/fan clutch be refit to 01 ?

Just looked at the huge 27 inch fan on my father inlaws 04 today and compaired to the little 22" rinky dink metal one on my 01, I'v got a mind to see if the newer clutches can be made to work on the 01. Has any body figured out the particulares on this conversion yet?

How much space is there between our "98. 5 - 2002" fans and the shroud... I would be interested in doing this. Just have to find away to steal my neighbors
