IIRC from watching the original program, the RS wheel on the Ford is stationary, which means the drive tire is turning at 80 MPH even though the speedo shows 40 MPH. That's a major difference in force, IMO.

Dunno, but one sure can kill. There was a drag racer killed a few years back by a chunk of his tire hitting his helmet.
