Is it true that the Smarty modifies the ECM programming directly?
If so, is it possible that whomever builds and programs the Smarty could "undo" the block on the J1939 communications port so we can start using standard engine monitoring devices?
I know the CM845 has J1939 capability, and I assume the CM850 and later generations also have it. It's just "blocked" from the factory (whatever that means).
I thought the guy who invented/builds/programs the Smarty was a member here? I wonder if he'd respond to such a question.
Any thoughts?
