Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Can an HO Head be put on a non-HO Truck?

Just wondering if I can put my o-ringed head off my 01. 5 HO truck on a non-HO truck of a similar year? Is the compression difference between the two motors due to the heads or pistions? Thanks.

I believe that the compression difference is because of the pistons. There are really no combustion chambers so to speak in our heads as they are flat. I cant see why it wouldn't work, hopefully one of the experts will chime in.
