With the key on and engine not running, select the odometer (total miles) on the dash. Now hold the button for about 5 seconds and the display will switch to hours. Note that you have to be on the odometer page, not the trip page or you will simply reset the trip meter.

You could get a Hobs hour meter for an Onan generator, but I think you would need to hook it up to 12 vdc and let it run till the time matched.

I'd like to add one to my truck.

Is there one available that I can calibrate to the current hours stored in the ecm?

Horizon Instruments may have what you need:

Horizon Instruments, Inc.

600 S. Jefferson St. , Unit C,

(800) 541-8128

Here's a link to Aircraft Spruce and the Honeywell meters:

Honeywell Hobbs Hour Meters from Aircraft Spruce

The Horizon instrument is a multifunction display, with the hour portion of it being adjustable. I don't know if you can adjust the Honeywell meters.

You can also find an issue of Trade-A-Plane or Kitplane or some other related publication. An hour meter is standart fare in light aircraft.
