Many years ago Ford purchased 10 percent of Cummings shares of stock and sold them later. The Dodge dealers had a letter explaining this several years ago. Don't know if it still exists. I get so tired of Ford owners saying that s*#@ I just ignore the source. Why would Ford put that s*#&#y International Power Choke in their trucks if they owned Cummings?

i emailed cummins and asked them that very question

here is a copy of what they emailed back

Thanks for your Email message.

Currently, the Dodge/Cummins and the Ford/Navistar agreements are set for the

next several years, and no announcements have been published that we are aware

of, by either company, to change engine suppliers. We would not expect GM to

use Cummins diesels in their pickups, since they are affiliated with Detroit

Diesel, which is one of Cummins major competitors.

Ford does NOT own any portion of Cummins. In 1994, Ford purchased 10% share of

Cummins stock and currently uses Cummins B5. 9 and C8. 3 engines in their F-series

trucks, larger than 1 ton. Ford uses the Navistar Power Stroke engine in their

pickups, that are 1 ton or under.

However, as of January 1, 1997, Cummins purchased back all of the original

shares from Ford, therefore Ford no longer has any direct financial connections

with Cummins. However, Ford still purchases some Cummins engines and are

considered a very good Cummins customer.

For information about Ford, we suggest you see Ford's website:

How do you know that DC owns detroit diesel? or are you kidding

Would I kid you? ;)

From the Detroit Diesel website:Detroit Diesel corprate history

In October, 2000, DaimlerChrysler AG completed a “Tender Offer” for all of the outstanding shares of DDC, including the 48. 6% ownership interest of Penske Corporation. Following the acquisition, DaimlerChrysler combined various engine and other powertrain component activities (including DDC, MTU-Friedrichshafen and Mercedes-Benz industrial engines) in the Commercial Vehicle Division under a new business unit named DaimlerChrysler Powersystems, an organization with over 34,000 employees and combined revenues of approximately $7 billion.

Detroit Diesel Corporation, headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, is engaged in the design, manufacture, sale and service of heavy-duty diesel and alternative fuel engines, automotive diesel engines and engine-related products. The company offers a complete line of engines from 22 to 10,000 horsepower for the on-highway, off-road and automotive markets and is a QS-9000 certified company. Detroit Diesel services these markets directly and through a worldwide network of more than 2,700 authorized distributor and dealer locations. Detroit Diesel is a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler AG, the world’s leading manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel truck engines.
