I've got a friend with the chrome clad, aluminum rims on his '07 CTD. Does anybody know if these can be powdercoated? I'm assuming they would have to be acid-etched or beadblasted in order for the paint to adhere. Thanks.

The chrome cladding can be removed leaving bare steel wheels beneath - chrome cladding appears to be attached with some kind of adhesive so it takes a bit of work. As part of powder coating process steel wheels will be bead blasted clean so the residual adhesive, dirt, and base paint is quickly elimated.

I recently did this to my chrome clad wheels after the cladding started to deteriorate and now use these powder-coated steel wheels for my winter tires.

Thanks. This guy's '07 came with the chrome clad forged aluminum ones. D/C doesn't offer the polished, forged, aluminum ones like my '07 came with. :{ We'll be talking with a local powder coater soon. If anybody's had luck in the San Diego with a powder coater, please post. Thanks guys.
