Can I Convert my Dually to a SRW?

I have a regular cab, 3500 dually. I bought the truck mainly becuase of its price. (Don't fret, I'd only buy a Dodge-Cummins, it's the dually I could live without. ) I have always wondered how difficult it would be to convert it to a SRW. SRW would help me a bunch because I don't tow or haul at dually ratings but often have to sweat squeezing my truck through places my business takes me. Would I need an entirely different rear end? Are the dually fenders bolted to an otherwise normal bed? Any info or opinions would be greatly appreciated. I would consider trading with someone who wished to convert their SRW short-bed to a dually.

Changing the front is easy, just remove the hub extensions. The rear is gonna be a little harder. The bed is pretty hacked up after you remove the dually fenders. Can't recall for sure, but I think the rear axle is wider. In short I'd be taking the guy up on doing a parts swap. Much easier to swap entire bed even if you gotta paint it. There have been some good threads on the subject, including pictures so if you spend a little time and search you should find them.

I did it (pics in readers rigs gallery). For the fronts, just remove the hub adapter and your set. Out back, under the dually flares the bed is extremly hacked up, so you will most definitly need a new bed. Also the rear axle is indeed wider but not by much.

Just find someone like me to trade with - I'd really like to have a dually now that I'm hauling the horses longer and more often. Not sure if I'll find anyone who wants to trade for a SB, tho!

Do any of you that have done the DRW to SRW conversion still have the front hub extenders? And would you be willing to sell them?
