2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Can I fit 285s on my 3500?

I want to knock a few RPMs off my highway cruising speed in an attempt to eke out a few mpg, but don't want 3:55 gears swapped in. Can I put 285-75/16 tires on my factory rims? I prefer not to do a 2" suspension lift, but will if needed. Is this a better option that the pricey 19. 5 route (since I need new tires anyhow)? Also, what will recalibrate my speedo (Hypertech?)? Truck is an '02 3500 QC HO 6-speed with VanAaken chip and BD exhaust. Its GCWR is 23k daily.

No, they are too wide. You might get away with 255's, if the don't rub loaded.

And if you are towing I do not think you can get 285s in E range

You need to go with the 19. 5's, based on the GCWR your dealing with I would think they will payoff for you in the long run.
