now i know i blew my headgasket, cause there is coolant cooked on the side of my block. now i have now lose of compression, no oil in the radiator, no water in the crankcase. if i keep boost low it doesnt leak any coolant.

i have to wait for the new h. g. to get here to see exactly what happened. now for you all that have blown a pallet of head gaskest what happened? could i get you to explain it to me? this is my first time.

also any tips or things to look out for when i replace it.

thanks

Is it seeping by the thermostat housing? No water in oil or vice versa. If so, the gasket will have leaked around a water passage. Common problem on factory gasket, not enough red goopum.

I haven't blown my HG, but I'll throw in my $0. 02.

How much boost are you running?

What set-up do you have?

I am running 30-38 psi at every shift of my everyday driver and my gasket is holding up fine(knock on wood). But I would say if you are running like 40+psi in an everyday driver with the stock HG then it will definately be at risk of leaking. Where is the leak coming from?

Fill us in a little more, por favor. :)

its coming out of the passenger side of the head where it meets the block. looks like 2-4 cylinder wise.

i have an o-ringed head with a stock style headgasket and running 50+,outa guage so not sure, for boost. the People at Piers told me that it was cause the head didnt get retorqued properly.

speaking of which can i get a run thru on the correct way to go about doing that?

so a water jacket died then? bad torquing and not enough red goop'em. i am just wanting to understand so i dont do it again.

No, your head gasket died. If you don't recheck the torque on the heads after the initial install, as well as using enough red stuff, your gasket is very much at risk of leaking. Once you have fired the engine up after the re-installation of the new head, gasket and bolts or studs, whatever you used, you need to re-check the torque after it has cooled back down to ensure it has been seated properly. Piers is right when he mentioned checking the torque.
