TDI Questions

I have a quick question about a new truck I just purchased. I have the new Silverado Vmax, and I am looking to do something with the exhaust. I want to run a Magnaflow muffler with tip, straight out the back. If I were to run just this muffler, the truck would be WAY too loud, so my question is, could I run a resonator some where under the truck, or perhaps another muffler under the truck to quiet it down some???

I used to have a 05 Ram gasser, I installed the Magnaflow Cat Back system and it was WAYYY too loud, it had the loudest drone. I ended up buying and Aeroturbine 3" in 3" out resonator and it tamed the drone alot, made a big difference, it was still kinda loud but it was not annoying and most of the drone was gone, sounded smooth and low, the resonator is wide open inside so it does not restrict, it was pretty cheap too, around 60 or 80 bucks.

But do you think it would matter if it goes resonator before muffler. Normaly (as in your case as well) resonators are run after the muffler...

Hard to say, I ended up welding it in right after the Magnaflow, I think it was pretty much attached. I guess it would still work before the muffler but it is hard to say for sure. You could call Aeroturbine and ask, I liked the aeroturbine because it was pretty short and looked nice. The stock exhaust system had a really small resonator after the stock muffler integrated into the tailpipe above the axle.

GM mods.

GM recently announced that any modification to the intake, exhaust or engine will nullify the warranty. They're really getting serious. My neighbor's a salesman for them and confirmed this notice.

My exhaust is stock ( 2002 ) The resonator is in front of the muffler.
( the little thing, I think it's a resonator. )

The Chevy dealership here sells trucks with aftermarket exhaust... you can also add aftermarket exhaust via genuine GM parts. Go figure... I guess they don't offer warranties on these trucks??? If this is true, I am not going to void my warranty again. So thanks for the info, I'll have to look deeper into that.

If the dealer will backup their install you should be fine. The newest D-Max's sure are quiet. :)
