Hi.
I just installed new OEM MOPAR back up camera to my 2015 1500 ecodiesel with 8.4A, RA3 radio. It works wonderful but I'd like to be able to turn it on without going in reverse. My friends new 1500 Bighorn with factory camera has an app to see reverse for eight seconds.

I'd like to activate the GPS too but the dealer cost to activate is $695.00! Is there a cheaper way to activate? Seems to me a dealer anywhere could activate it online, charge me on a credit card and I go into the "engineering mode" in the radio and reset it.
Any way to do it? Thanks, Herb

Just was thinking again. Even if you could turn on the camera with the interface module, not sure the radio will display the camera without the proper bus message to the radio.

I had an alpine camera installed on our 12 Srt Challenger. If you have the radio on and turn if off then on fast the music will still be playing but the display is the camera. This is on the factory radio. I had neck fusion done last year so now my head doesn't move. This allows me to safely drive and check my blind spot. I upgraded the radio in my 06 mega to do the same thing. There is a way, go to a good radio shop not the dealer.

My 2016 Longhorn has the factory in bed camera, and it will display in any gear position, even allowing the camera to operate when the truck is moving forward, such as at highway speed . In forward gears, it displays for 10 seconds.
