Putting a set of Twins on this week

Coolant hose replacement

i have a question for all you filter experts. can i use a BHAF filter on an AFE heat shield/filter base? i like the AFE heat shield/filter base because it incorporates the filter minder and i prefer to use a paper filter.

so... ... will it work?

thanks

great

so is this the set up you use silver? i've written it down and i've contacted some folks who sell afe set ups and are trying to get a price on just the mount for me.

i guess there aren't as many filter experts as i thought!! :D

thanks guys.

i've asked two guys who sell these things on ebay. one has replied with a cost and i am waiting for the 2nd.

first one came in at $108 plus shipping. anyone interested pm me for his e-mail address.

as always caveat emptor. i'm going with whomever is lower and i'll let the list know how it turned out.

I would be interested as well. I like the idea of discarding the element. Any idea of the flow rate of the FRAM, and are there other "dry" elements that will work?

i don't know what filters will work, but if they are BHAF (in the generic sense) i'm sure flow will be more than adequate.

if anyone can come up with other filters that will work, please let me know.

Bill Flemming has a friend that had a aFe mega I think and took it off. I pm'ed him to see why. I'll do some searching to see what other filters will work, ie length and diameter.

I'm pleased with my setup. I put the BHAF on it because I'm worried about the AFE filter's filtration capabilities. (We get dust storms where visibility is sometimes less than 60ft. ) The Fram was the only one I could find in the short time I looked. When I said it is a tight fit, I'm talking about the filter opening. I actually had to put a little grease on mine to get it on.

The filter is cylinder-shaped

Diameter is about 8in

It is 9in long

It fills the space nicely, but you may be able to go about an inch longer and 1. 5 in bigger in diameter.

Let me know if you guys come up with anything.

Thanks, Marc

not ordered yet

i haven't ordered yet. i've found a guy that will sell me jus the filter mount for $108 plus shipping. i'll post when i get an air filter for it. i hope that doesn't take long. i'm going for the biggest one i can find/will fit. i am going to order it so it comes when my wife is in another state the first week of june. she says i can't be frivolous with the bombs since 19. 5in tires are gonna cost $1300:--) but she never checks under the hood. heck, olga is so reliable i hardly look under the hood (knock wood). the other bomb i'm gonna do while she is gone is the white faced gage swap. she'll think that is cool.
