Competition How much power needed for 1/4 mile?

Competition 800+HP @ May Maddness

Hey guys,

I am currently gathering parts for my twin's build on my '99 truck. I have a hx-35/h3tb combo, with a drag comp and a set of bd6's. Since my head has 250k on it and it's a '99 (supposidly no hardened valve seats?) I wanted to just get another head and o-ring that one, so I can minimize my down time. I know generally a twin motor wants less compression to make the head gasket live. I have a line on an H. O. head, but I don't know if the added compression in an H. O. is from the head, or is it from the gasket/deck height/piston? Also if the comp. increase is in the head, can I use a mod' 12v thick gasket to compensate for it? Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Scott

The compression increase is from the pistons etc... etc... You will be ok using the Head off an H. O.

just make sure it is not off a 3rd Gen engine. Those wont work on the VP44 trucks.

HEAD STUDS

Yeah I have the new head studs coming from ARP. I hate to tell you this Bob, but summit now offers these for $354 availible on 5-28-04

Scott, if you can get a part number that would be great. It's funny i called ARP on two occasions and they said they haven't started to make them and they won't be available any time soon... . Thanks Jason

arp part number

I figured everybody would be interested in these. The part number is

247-4202 that's for the 24 valve. I'm not sure what the part number is for the 12v, but I'm fairly certain they will be made availible too.
