Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Can i use a wastegate?

I have a bell usb turbo and its not wastegated. You can buy them either gated or not gated. well can i put a wastegate of blow off valve on my truck now? also can you put bo valves or external wastegates on the piping between the intercooler and the air horn? thanks, Greg

Can put an external gate on the exhaust manifold.

An external gate can be installed directly into the exhaust manifold, into a spacer between the manifold and turbo, or directly into the turbo's exhaust housing.

does it NEED to be wastegated? may just be throwing your money away

If you're not overspooling your turbo, or your max boost pressures are within the "safety" zone i wouldnt worry about it





no wastegate here, my combo hits 45-50psi boost and EGTs are... . managable

Check your drive press if it is higher than your boost you need a wastgate! here a picture
