I have to do a 1500 mile trip from FL to MN, and the A/C compressor clutch is scraping as a spring has broken. As a temporary fix, can I fit the non-A/C serpentine belt, or is it a problem that the wrong side of the belt will run on the idler pulley? Does anyone have a part number for the non-A/C belt? Thanks.

Nick.

I've heard of some that have used the non-AC belt in an emergency. Most parts stores should have the belt. (NAPA, AutoZone, Advance Auto, etc. ) Sorry no part numbers.

Yes, You can run the non-ac belt. I did for awhile when my belt tensioner went out on me. It caused the belt to ride one rib off on the AC pulley, so I just used my "emergency" non-ac belt. I'm sure a search on here will get you the right part number. I dont have it off hand.

I did the exact same thing in Novemeber - about ready to leave for a trip and noticed the a/c pulley was crooked. I've been running the bypass belt for about 2500 miles now and no problems. -Vic

That's good to know, Vic, so thank you. I've just bought the shorter belt from NAPA, part # 25-080655. If it doesn't fit I'll post later.

Nick.

No problem. I figure when I get the compressor fixed (next on the project list) I am going to keep this non a/c belt in my boonie box. Then I'm good for either a broken belt or a bad compressor.
