I am very close to getting and edge EZ and i am wondering if my clutch will survive. i tow very heavy loads daily 10,000-28,000 GCW. At 53,000 miles my clutch was replaced with a new unit from carquest. i had a problem and we thought it might be the clutch or the slave cylinder so we ended up replacing both. From what i can tell the new carquest clutch seems to be just as strong as the factory unit. what is your opinion? Anyone tow heavy loads with a stock clutch and an EZ? Your help is greatly appricieated.

I've still got my stock clutch with 5spd, EZ and RV injectors. Got about 110k miles on the truck now. I've had a GCW of 24k and the clutch held fine. Of course when I tow something I take it pretty easy on the clutch cause I'm sure if I punched it hard with a big load I could fry the clutch.

I have heard of one situation...

Where the EZ caused the stock clutch to slip. A guy that lives here in town hauls cars for Enterprise (rentals), on a three car trailer. He had three Excursions on and his clutch started slipping, to the point he had to replace it immediately.

I haul around about 18,000 GCW with an EZ and 6 speed for 22,000 miles so far with no problems,

BUT I start off in 1st gear each and every time. Oo.
