Can someone describe where the AC compressor is?

Hate to sound dumb here, but where would the AC compressor be located? Is it near the fan assembly?? My AC noise is getting louder and Only does it when the compressor cycles. . I am hoping to locate it and see if indeed that is where the noise is originating from. . sorry to sound dumb! LOL

The AC compressor is driven by the belt on the front of the engine... . Freon flows from the AC unit under the dash, evaporator, through the compressor and to the condenser in front of the radiator..... to a receiver dryer and back to the evaporator... . the lines are about 1 1/8" diameter in most cases and its about 25% larger than the alternator... .

Hope this helps.....

The AC Compressor/Clutch is on the lower left bottom facing the front of the truck. You can tell where it is from the belt diagram below.

Yep, got under the truck, seems like the noise is coming from the compressor?? It appears to be working normally, I watched it click on and off. . but we will see!!

With the compressor being mounted lower on the engine, when the clutch kicks in it makes a hard engagement, because all the fluid runs to the bottom.

That is what most people notice. I know sometimes mine will hit hard enough to squeel the belt.
