2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission can someone explain the benefits of crossover steering?

Why is a crossover steering upgrade a better way to go? Other than taking a little slop out, is it any more durable?

Well it would provide for reduced angles on lifted trucks and generally heavier components, but if you are not lifted... not sure there would be much of any advantage.
