Hey guys, the 12V has been setting up for a while... hasn't been cranked this year yet, til today. Changed lift pump, clutch, transmission, last year and went to fire it up today and all was well except a fuel leak. It is leaking off the the bottom of the lift pump against the block. Not leaking from the fuel filter, checked it already. Can it leak between the lift pump and block??? If not, I know not to take it back off and it MUST be one of the fuel lines on the lift pump that I couldn't see it leaking from. Just want to know if I need to take the pump back off or not.

Need it running back this week possibly.

Apreciate any help,

Justin

I just went through something similar. I thought the leak was from the flexable hose. It turned out to be leaking out the bottom of the fuel filter. Past the o-ring. Installed new filter, reprimed, no more leak.

I have heard of leaks at the primer button also.

Fuel Leak

Justin,

The Lift pump on the earlier engines have a small weep hole on the side or bottom that will allow fuel to leak out from it if the diaphragm was to develop a crack from normal use or drying out. This would show as an external leak.

Just thought I'd throw that in.

Thanks guys, I will get back under there and give it a good second look.

Haven't checked the primer button yet and already have made sure both fuel lines the lines were tight. I may go ahead and pull the fuel filter back off and check the bowl on the bottom. Already checked the metal bowl on the heater also.

I also would like to note that the new lift pump did not come from the stealership, got it from the Case/John Deere local tractor dealer for $93 compared to $213 at the stealership.
