2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission can the overhead information console be installed

can I add the overhead upgrade information console if my 99 did not come with it

and if so what will need to be done to get it working

Beyond a certain year (pre-99) Dodge decided that it was cheaper to make 1 harness for all the trucks so you should be able to connect it to the factory harness. I would pop the light asembly out and double check that the harness is there. You can get these on ebay cheap.

I'm not sure on a 99 but I did it on a 98... not that bad if you have the harness...

Look at the road relay, I think 99 or 00 was the last year that it was fully functional with the Dodge. I have one in my 2001, love it. It has some shortcomings, but compared to the stock overhead computer it provides a lot more information. It's probably about the same cost as buying a new computer console from Dodge.

You're loking for an electrical connector. I think it's clipped to the roof liner panel (might be on top) above where the unit attaches. If you can't see it after dropping whatever is there now, drop the headliner, I'm pretty sure it's there.

do you need to unhook the batteries and let it set then plug it all up

and hook the batteries up to reset everything

I did this mod on my '02. The harness had to be replaced for this application. The original harness only supplied power for the lights. The new harness also has wires for the data bus and temp sensor. You would be better off getting the whole setup as opposed to piecing it together. I believe '99 thru '02 are interchangeable.

BT, what/where is the 'road relay'? Is this an after market product? Where can one find this? Does it fit in the OH console?

the road relay is a cummins unit... can find cheap in e-bay. . i think its too big to fit in the console.
