Can we track trucks on order? (It's coming!)

We ordered an 05 a couple of weeks back and were wondering how early we can follow the build process.

Dealer said we wouldn't know anything until we get a VIN number and they put it on a train.

It's kind of like knowing Christmas is coming... ... ... . someday... :confused:

Nope, they took Insight away from us. The only option is to call DC customer "service" and hound them. I've been calling twice a week for the past month. My truck has been built since August, but it's just sitting "in storage" somewhere. They can't even tell me where or why. In the day of wristwatches with more brainpower than the first lunar lander, why can't they keep track of our trucks?

thejeepdude, I've placed my order for a '05 3500 4x4 ST QC LWB SWR, on 9/9 and it was built an left the plant on 9/30. can DC customer service still track the progress of the transportation to the dealer, or is it now just a waiting game for it to show up at the dealer?

Bummer

JBaker,

Our dealer said it could be tracked once it was on the train, a week or so away.

With so many people with vehicles on order, makes no sen$e to do away with Insight :{

Now dealers are taking "how's my truck coming along" calls all day long :-{}

Jeepdude, was there anything special about your truck to delay it?

Get your train car number from the Chrysler 1800 number.

You can track it while it is in Mexico using http://www.etfm.com.mx/localizacion_carros/default.asp?lang=1

Then you can track it after it crosses the border using http://my.uprr.com/pet.

You can also track it on the truck at www.cassens.com. You will need your dealer's 5 digit number to use the cassens site.

After your truck leaves the plant, the DC people don't seem to have very good info about whats going on, so use these sites for the latest info.

No problem! I just picked mine up on Friday night, so I just went through the same thing as you.

I'm enjoying every minute so far!

Thank Matt!

How soon are we able to get information from the Chrysler 800 number?

Congratulations on your truck, what did you get?

Mel

They will be able to give you info as soon as the order is placed. They will be able to tell you scheduled build date and ship date... etc.

I got an 05 4x4 Reg Cab w/ 48RE, Laramie H, Patriot blue.

Hahahahahaha... judging by what they can tell me, they can't even tie their own shoes. Truck still in limbo, no explanation, no expected ETA, even after hours on the phone with dozens of DC customer service reps. But you're right, if a person is lucky, they should be able to tell them this information.

Found out today that the truck doesn't have a Railcar # because it's on a transport ship in the Gulf somewhere, it on it way to a port in Tampa, now if we can hang on to this break in the seemingly endless barrage of hurricanes I could get my truck in a week or maybe two. Of course they say is on a ship, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. I'll believe its here when I see in on the lot.

Yeah, sometimes when you call you get a retarded rep. Just try again later, they have some really helpful reps. Its all luck of the draw when calling in.

Truck doesn't exist

Called the 800 number, she looked long and hard using the vehicle order number and there's no record the truck was ever ordered :{

Today I'll go thru the dealer to hopefull get some info :confused:

I went through this same thing. I had the print out in front of me when I called and they still said it doesn't exist. I called the dealer and found out that the order number had changed after the fact somehow. He swears it didn't change, so I must have trick ink on this printout he gave me. This was the beginning of my concern and the first of many little things that have added up to a pathetic ordering experience.

As for finding a jackass rep when you call in; in my case I don't think it has anything to do with that. I've had several extremely helpful people on the line, and I don't blame them for this boondoggle. I blame DC and their inadequate tracking system and failure to communicate between the factory and the customer service desk. I even had one rep that totally believed my theory that it was the sunroof that was holding it up but I just wanted some confirmation. She told me "one way or another I will find out what the cause of your truck's hangup is!". I was excited... and of 3 reps that said they'd call me back, she actually did! However it was the same excuse... "It's like your truck is in a black hole somewhere. We have no information other than it's in storage". Whooopi. . this is so fun.

I want my truck, DAGNABBIT!!!!!!!!! :mad:

called agian

After calling DC customer service line and holding for there "approximate. 6 min. wait", 35 minutes passed. I asked for the railcar # and was told that there is not going to be a railcar # b/c is on a transport ship. Finding this to be odd that two calls on two different days yielded the same information, I decided to call once more and got thourgh in about 10 min. , again for a third time the same thing. They didn't have an arrival date for the Port of Tampa, but said that it would go onto a truck after arriving.

Dealer came through

No sooner did I post "no record of the truck", Fleet mgr. Pete Barnhouse of Town & Country Dodge in Wilsonville calls me with all the info I was looking for. He has been like this from the beginning, service, service, service!

Truck is scheduled to be shipped Oct. 14 and he says it will be 14 to 20 days to the dealership after that.

Our Son is coming home on leave from Coast Guard IT School on the 20th. Sure would be nice if it arrived while he was home at the same time Oo.
