I dunno if anyone uses AOL, but I signed on tonight, and saw a flash of the Chevy on the Welcome screen. Read the caption that stated something like "test of the big three. " And wouldn't you know it, the picture they put on the welcome page just so happened to be the picture of the winning truck... . what a joke!! Check it out for you selves...

I read the whole article, seems honest, they said the Dodge had the nicest

cab interior, and that the powerstroke was a piece of junk towing up a hill(just alot of noice). I drive the fords at work all day long, I own a Dodge and feel that maybe trying out the gmc might not be a bad idea it can't be any worse, maybe it'll be better. just my 2 cents

After putting all three trucks through the ringer for a week, it was clear they're made for work and little else. Without a couple tons of something holding them down, they're miserable on the highway. They also suck down diesel at furious rates, and they're so loud your neighbors will think you're a UPS truck every time you turn the corner.

I'm willing to bet the writer of this story drives something pathetic like a Honda Accord.

Numbers don't lie..... right? I think the GM did win in said competitions, most of them. If truck-A does "X" better than truck-B..... then A is a better at that TEST.

Every Mfg has it's own style of truck and each has it's better points. I think that most of us here have a Dodge because of the Cummins motor. If the Ford had a Cummins... . I'd be in a Ford.

Agreed. I like all three brands, but I prefer the Cummins engine. I'd never buy a 6. 0L Ford OHC diesel. I like the Duramax, but the trucks are dated looking to me (I had an '02 GMC). Dodge trucks look the meanest, and sit higher. Like a truck should!

I loved the first gen dodge's with the Cummins of course. 2nd's are nice, but would still rather have a first gen. My 3rd gen has been really nice, but like Burner said I drive a Dodge for the Cummins.

I have always had Chevy's and when it was time to buy my first new truck I choose a Dodge for the Cummins, the Straight front axle(4x4), and the better looking front-end in that order. The IFS in the Chevy's suck (96 one-ton Suburban 4x4), the 6. 5 in Suburban did OK but nothing like the cummins and I think a Diesel should be an in-line design not a V-8, and the new Chevy's look like some half Japaneese Geo looking junk. Besides from what I have seen the cummins can out run, or pull the others hands down and be reliable doing it with the right mods ( just look at some of the highly modded trucks against each other chevy vs ford vs dodge). Dodge: Built Cummins tough! :-laf

"The segment's only six-speed automatic transmission, proved hard to beat. It handled heavy loads better and more efficiently than the other trucks. "

Quote about the Chevy.

What a load! Out shop insists on buying these things and I can tell you that that Allison is the definition of Slushbox. And when you punch the accelerator you can time the response with a calendar.

Pretty lame towing comparison. The Dodge gets to go with a gross of 17K, the Chevy 19K, and the Ford 21K... all based on 81% of the gross combined weights. Throw another 4K on the Dodge and 2K on the Chevy and run them again. That would be the real test. I would expect 17K and 19K to pull a little easier. I though it was pretty fair and competitive until they decided to skew the towing portion with ballast weight based on the manufacturer's rating. 12K behind all three would have been a good test in my opinion..... since the truck weights are close enough to not haggle with.

Hmm, real world test this weekend, no Chevy, but an '05 Ford 6. 0 3500 SRW Auto, and my 04. 5 DRW 6 Spd. (Its a miracle people can shift their own gears)

I loaded my Big Tex dually gooseneck with 8 pallets of block, yes, retaining wall block, and the Ford with 4 Pallets on a gooseneck dovetail (staying in the trailer GVW's, ignoring the trucks GCVW's).

My GCW, 19. 6 tons (39,200 lbs), the Ford, 13. 15 tons (26,300), yes we crossed the scale on the way out.

Yes, the Ford brought up the rear all the way from Phoenix to Flagstaff, it faded out of site on the hills, miles back, and on Sunset Point he had to stop to cool off from the climb in 110 degree weather, it was near overheated. (For those who know that hill, I pulled it in 4th gear at 40 MPH, the Ford was far behind)

Now if this doesn't make my truck acceptable, what does??? What more could you want?

The Dodge need only one more gear and a lowered TQ Mgt. I believe that the Duramax and Ford are 100% available from the get-go where the Cummings is held back for some time. What would happen if the Cummins was turned loose? Other than a broken trans, it would have run off and left'em in any race.

Honestly, I think the "new" Cummins will surprize everyone. We just might see a huge shift in sales... ...

I agree with ya'll. I mean every editor will have his different opinion. And I think we all drive the Dodge because of the solid front and the Cummins. It would be interesting to see what would happen if Chevy threw in the Cummins. I wouldn't mind Chevy interior with a Cummins, although the Duramax doesn't seem all that bad. But my real problem with that article was the last damn sentence...

and our choice for the World's Strongest Truck was an easy one.

Why all the hate for the GM front end? It's not like we don't have axle joint and/or driveshaft probs of our own. Just 'cause it's more "stout", doesn't make it any better. I know a few guys running GM's and they've never had issue with the front end.

I dunno, IFS just doesn't do much for me. I have heard GM's ain't bad, but I know I hated my F-150 I used to have. All I know is that with Dynatrac's free hub kit on the that "stout" Dodge front end... I don't think you'll be having to many problems.
