Just stuck one of these to the oil pan yesterday, got it as am Xmas gift. :)

Model CP512 250W, 120V

Just started the truck this morning -7C and I could tell the difference already with nice warm oil, this is going to be good in Febuary when it gets down to -30C, Thats -30 Canadian!!!!

I'm thinking of adding some sort of thermal insulation arond the pan, as the instructions show a mounting to the bottom of the pan, but the Cummins has the drain plug slap bang in the middle of what would have been the Ideal place, I figured this would be the next best place.

Here is there home page.

Those pads work very well. We use them on our big trucks all winter, one doesn't have a block heater and it still starts good with just the pad on the pan.

The position it is mounted in does make a difference somewhat, as heat rises, but as long as it is where the oil sits it will work fine.

Hey fellow Canucks,

I just put on the same pad on my oil pan but, it has not been cold enough to really try her out. I'm thinking it will do just fine. Dodge guy I was curious on the numbers your truck runs ie boost and egt's. Which plate do you have? I was also curious about the super B turbo. I just got my timing done and #10 as well as the 3k gsk but now my truck smokes quite a bit at start up and when it returns to idle it kind of stutters before resuming idle. Did you have any trouble like that? I 'm not sure what the problem is.

Thanks

It looks like we a very good Canadian product to use. I checked the website and could not find any pricing. How much was your product?

My daughter bought mine at Crappy Tire $119. 99, Canadian EH!

Sorry its not a Canadian product, zoom in on the photo says made in yoosa!!!!

I just pulled my 5th whl to Tucson and a few hills the turbo hit 42 lbs and about 975 degrees (post turbo). The Super B turbo seems to work good but I had it on my 94 before I bought this truck and when I put it on that truck I did the pump, injectors, gsk, and turbo all at once so I never really saw the difference it made.

I got rid of that truck because of the BD transmission that was in it and the lack of customer support from BD so I would not recommend anything that is sold by BD for that reason.

I am not sure what fuel plate I have but it does over fuel some at idle and the hit of the throttle but cleans up once the turbo spools. It never did "stutter" or anything like that. It returns to idle nicely. The timing was set back a couple degrees as well when the parts were installed.

Not sure if this helps but all my work on this 98 has been done at Diesel Performance Specialists in Calgary, they may have some answers for you.

Yup, used those before. The guys in Fairbanks usually put one of those on the engine and transmission, plus the block heater and battery blankets. brrrrrr

We install these quite frequently in the aviation industry, they work great. Just make sure when you attach the heater to the pan all the air bubbles are out from under the pad because you can burn the elements up alot sooner than it should. My question is what about using it for the transmission?

Yoosa? Heck, and here I thought Canada was just California North. :-laf

Moderator please move this to the Political forum :D

What did you stick that on with? Silver Silicone? How about holesawing a hole for the Fumoto oil drain valve? That way you could have it on the bottom.

Canadian Polar Pad!!!!!!

Yep I wish it was as warm as California North??? Living here in Kebec!!!!

The pad comes with a self adhesive baking, tells you to apply at any temperature, I did mine after coming home and the oil pan was hot to touch.

The aluminum silicon comes with the pad as they instruct you to seal all the edges with it.

Documentation says not to cut pad. LOL you would end up cutting the wires and it would not work.

It would be good IF they made one with about 1. 5 inch da hole in the middle for our drain plug, then it would go right on the bottom.

The temps this past week have been between -15 to -5 C and with the block heater & polar pad (thats 900 watts) the truck warms up at least 3 times as fast as without it.
