I have a Canadian truck that has daytime running lights. The high beams run @ 50% when driving with the headlights off.

My problem is, I did a sport headlight conversion with a wiring harness from suvlights.com. With the relays in the harness and the 50% daytime running lights the relays are buzzing away. I presume it is because there isnt enough current going through the relays and they are opening and closing.

Is there a way to disconnect the daytime running lights or do I need a different type of relays

Todd, Not sure if the wiring harness you have takes into account the DRL . I did my sport conversion and made my own wiring kit with relays and still have my DLR's operational. Not quite sure why the relays would be buzzing, but what I've read about the DLR module is that it reduces the voltage by turning the circuit on and off maybe this is got something to do with it?

I had the same problem with my truck when I did my conversion. I haven't found a way to make it work with the relays and DRL yet, I have just unplugged the DRL relay and made a jumpercable in the socket so you will have your checklight for the highbeams on the instrumentpanel.

The reason for the buzzing is actually the DRL relay that switches the power on an off in a rapid pace for the highbeams. I also believed it was too little power to the relays first that made the sound, but after some testing with a instrument I relized it was not the case.

I am fairly certain that it is the relays in the conversion wiring harnesses, unless there is relay for the DRL on the inside of each of the fenders.

It would be nice to totally disconnect the DRL without having any check engine light faults. Right now I am just putting a click or two on the parking brake to deactiveate the daytime running lights but this leaves my parking brake light flashing on the instrument panel all the time

Just unplugg your DRL relay thats located on the innerfender on the drivers side quit close to the firewall. This kills the buzzing relays, but also the checklight for the highbeams. Otherwise the lights works like they supposed to do. To make the checklight work see my post above.

SMolteberg- How exactly did you do the jumper for thr highbeam indicator? My DRLs are unplugged for use with a harness and it would be nice to have the indicator light. I read a thread a while ago on this but I can't find it.

Thanks

Just take a small wire and stick it in lower right and the middle on the top row. I just wrapped it with duct-tape for isulation afterwards. It's very little current flowing throuh the jumper, it's just for the check-light.
