Archived Canister Full / Check Engine Light

My parents picked up this new truck and it has a little over 1000 miles on it and it's almost home and the check engine light came on. It stayed on steady and then the overhead display beeped and said cansister full and catalyst stat 90%. I called the dealer and their diesel techs are off. Does it need to go into the dealer or is there a way to fix it? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

07. 5 Dodge Ram 3500 6. 7 Auto, 1080 highway miles. Tow truck took it to the dealer we'll see what they say tomorrow.

I take it the warning was for the CAT and not the DPF (since the DPF has a burn feature thru engine exhaust heat). Were they using ULSD or LSD fuel?

No the particulate filter was full. The dealer is having trouble getting a replacement part. The dealer said one of the regional Dodge guys was in town and they've had about 60 trucks with the exact same problem nationwide.
