Loosened the top cap but does not lift out. Also on my RV trip last weekend while pulling 10K trailer the intake air heater came on two different times while doing 60 mph. Each time I pulled over and turned off motor, started up and OK. OAT was 63 Degrees, engine temp. 197, EGT 800 to 1200 degrees

This truck was recently purchased and has a remote start kit which does work, wondering if that could be the cause? I also have been installing a BD exhaust brake and doing the wiring under the dash. Also when I go full throttle to pass traffic, the MAP number goes to over 40 which sets off an alarm on the Insight monitor. Getting ready to go to Columbus for the Cummins tour and would like to resolve these problems, truck has 120,000 miles and was looked after by the original owner.

The filter is clipped to the cap but there is a gasket that goes over a post in the bottom of the canister. You might have to wwiggle itsome to get it out. To avoid a mess, drain some of the fuel first.

did you open the fuel drain valve before attempting to open the top????? there should be no reason for it not to lift up once loose... ... just a filter in there..... nothing else

im confused, so the cap and filter is out, but you cannot remove filter from the cap???? like it was said, there are some tabs, and you just wiggle the filter around and it will come out,,,

Thanks, I just had to pull up a little harder. Now any help on the other two problems? Also one other, the light in the rear defrost/mirror heater switch is flashing all the time except one time it quit and I was able to press switch and have the light stay on ?

The intake air heater is probably a warning for excessive fuel return. Have dtc's checked to be sure, then go from there
