A neighbor has a canopy from a 91' Ford 4x4 standard cab 8ft bed. Will it fit my 96' Longbed x-cab? The color is about right. He hates canopies but they often come with the vehicles he purchases.

Just what is a canopy for a truck? Must be a regional term.

Is that a truck cap? That's what they call them around here. I know in West Virginia they're called toppers.

Anyway, if that is what you mean, I doubt it will fit since our beds taper in toward the back - about 3" narrower. Not sure if the new Fords do that, but I doubt they would have thought up such stupidity in 1991.

Who knows? Maybe you're talking about something completely different.

I believe you and I are on the same page. A truck cap or topper will do. I was thinking of making him an offer since he refuses to drive it with the canopy. It sits in his backyard. Just wanted to be sure before making anytype of offer.

wcjp,

It won't fit well. cab angle on the Dodge is 6. 5 degs with a curve to fit the cab contour, the ford os 7. 5 degs and straight. The rear of the ford is about 4" wider than the Dodge. Rail length on the ford 100 1/4" the Dodge is 100 1/2" plus the Dodge requires a curved bottom rail on the rear door which actually adds an additional 1-1 1/4" overall length to the canopy ( camper shell, topper, etc, etc).
