What happened? No signature ever?

I just though I replied to someone after I finished I noticed that I posted a new topic. So I tried to delete it and received a message (WTE) I wasn't authorized to delete the post - why? Also the other night I posted in the wrong forum and wanted to change forms tried the same thing - got the same reply. I also have problems searching if I search for something using two words such as tire pressure. I'm looking for tire pressure not a million previous posts on tire and then another on all kinds of pressure. I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree when it comes to PC's and how they work so I'm sure I'm missing something. Is there some place on this site where you can learn how to properly use it instead of becoming frustraited and tired when trying to find some answers.

Sorry, just a bit tired and frustraited. Appreciate any direction/assistance.

Joe click f. a. q. at the top of this page info on site use. You can't delete the first post on a thread because it will delete the entire thread along with everyone else's posts.

Deleting Posts

Joe Mc, I just looked at your user setup, and everything appears to be working properly. There are no restrictions on our end. I just did a "tire pressure" search and got 462 matches. Be sure you're logged in. Sometimes I have to clear my cookies and log back in to get everything reset and working properly. To do that, go to the "faq" (small gray button). You'll see a link, "How Do I Clear My Cookies" - follow that link. Then try logging back in. If you still cannot search on "tire pressure," e-mail me at rpatton@ix.netcom.com. We can always set you up a new account (as a test) to see if the problem is corrected.

Regarding deleting posts, the only time you cannot delete one is when it is a "thread starter" because as illflem said, if the "thread starter" is deleted, the whole thread gets deleted. It is a system thing.

Regarding moving threads, we're always happy to move a thread that has gotten in the wrong forum (happens every day). Just e-mail me or any of the moderators, and we'll do it for you. No problem.

If you have any other problems getting around the site, e-mail me at rpatton@ix.netcom.com. If I can't help, I'll try to get someone involved who can.

Thanks!

Robin,

I've never understood searching/how to. At a chance of appearing REALLY stupid let me ask the following - I noticed when you said you just searched for tire pressure you used quotes "at the beginning and end" do the quotes have something to do with this whole search thing? Probably so cause I just typed flat out tire pressure Also at the risk of sounding really stupid. How does "using the word AND work when searching.

Thanks for the searching 101 course;)

Hey Ill thanks for the info on why I can't delete as a thread starter. Still love those pictures I saw of your place some time back.

Robin,

So I just typed "tire pressure" and still come up with all kinds of tire posts and all kinds of pressure posts. Is there any way to do a specific search for just tire pressure ? where the only thing you will locate is posts on tire pressure? Not trying to be a pain just really confused/possible too thich headed to understand. Once again thanks for the 101 search lesson. ;)

Good Questions

Your questions are good ones . . . unfortunately, I don't have all of the answers.

When I search on tire pressure, I get 462 threads. And some posts match tire, some match pressure, some match tire pressure.

When I search on tire AND pressure (by adding the word AND, the system should select all posts that contains both words, but not necessarily in combination), I get 716 posts.

Note: by adding the words AND or OR, you're just expanding your ability to search. Sometimes it gets the results you want. Sometimes it does not. .

I've tried every trick I know to restrict the search to "tire pressure" in sequence, but can't do it.

Anyone else know something I don't? I even checked the FAQs, but didn't come up with anything.
