Can't download Smarty update

Last month the computer on my truck died. After 5 weeks I got my truck back from the dealer. When I went to load my Smarty it won't load. I get an unknown software message. I emailed Mads Electronics and they tell me to download the new program. I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent person but I have spent the entire afternoon trying to do this and I can't. I have gone on various forums and the Mads website and have tried to do what they tell me and it still won't work. I have made the smarty folder downloaded the 7-zip program and installed the files into it. Still nothing. When I plug in my smarty they tell me I should get a new found software screen but I don't get it and I can't get anything else to work. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong so I can get my truck back to normal?

Got this from one of the TDR guys hope this helps.

You will need to download the file (you probably already did), the SMARTY_USB. exe, and the CDM_2. 00. 00. zip. . You will also need 7zip software installed (a link is on the mads site)

First off unzip the CDM file, it will create a folder. I put all my Smarty files in a Smarty folder. . Then plug the Junior into the computer with the USB cable. When it asks you to install it tell it the specific place the folder CDM is at. The necessary driver is in there...

Then using 7zip unzip the SJRPV508ADR14S. 7z file into the Smarty folder.

Then run SMARTY_USB. exe, the go file, open and select the SJRPV508ADR14S. smt file, and press send. .

That should do it.

Then reinstall whatever SW you run, you will have to redo revo options (if you were using them), then you can use the PoD menu and adjust power.

how do you unzip a file? I don't get that.

I downloaded the 7zip. Its in my computer What do I do with it? How does it work? I've got the Smarty files in a separate folder. When I try to open them it tells me that it can't find them and nothing happens.

Thanks I'll try it. One of the problems is I have to use someone elses computer as I have a mac at home and am having to borrow. Will try tomorrow on my work pc and see if that helps. The commuter I tried it on wouldn't recognize the smarty when I plugged it in nothing happened. Same for the 7zip. I see the icon but when I try to open it nothing happens. I'll keep on trying. I just wish it was a little easier. Thanks for all your help.

Got everything into the file but when I try to send it the only options I get are desktop, mail recipeint, my documents, or removable disc How do I get it into the Smarty. Again this should be easier.

I hit send it gives me an open window that has a "look in" box. I set the box for smarty and hit open and nothing happens or I get the message smarty not found

Finally

Finally after 4 days and endless fustration I got it downloaded. Thank you Don for all your help. It was one little thing I was doing wrong. It felt so good I put it up on 7. Its amazing the difference between this and a stock truck.
