Archived can't figure it out, help!

As i posted in earlier i'm having trouble with my truck starting. I have checked my lift pump, i've got good pressure at inlet to injector pump where my gauge is tied in. no codes, no smoke, a little shot of starting fluid and it bust right off. Runs fine, no other problems. 165k miles. But when you turn it off it dosen't want to start back up. Batteries are fine, starter is fine. I'm no great mech. but I can usually figure out most fairly simply problems. If any body has had this problem please help. Money is awlfully tight these days. Thanks.

sounds like you might have a leak some where allowing air to get into the system. on the starting fluid. the 24v eng uses air intake heaters that could ignite the starting fluid (not a good thing). the heaters sit at the base of the intake horn on the l/h fwd side of the engine. a friend had the same problem as you are describing and it turned out to be a leaking line that would leak fuel out after the truck was shut down and it was hard to start for a while then it would not start at all. he said the leak was very small and hard to see but after fixing it no more problem. hope this helps.

Exactly - Man be careful with that stuff. Lucky for me the only starting problems I've had were related to batteries. I've heard that holding a clean rag that has some gasoline on it (not soaked, just enough to fume) over the air filter inlet while someone cranks - after the wait to start light goes out - is way safer than starting fluid and do the same thing. Additionally, I agree with JP you probably have a leak somewhere that is allowing air to seep back in the line causing an air pocket where there should be fuel. Unfortunately, these leaks are hard to find because they usually don't leak fuel. Usually a good place to start is close to the last thing you did or had done on the truck. Change the fuel filter lately? Installed anything on or close to the fuel system? Usually it the most obvious things we overlook. Start with what is simple and go to the hard stuff.
