hey everyone. I own a 1998. 5 24v. My truck was recently in the shop to get the pcm replaced and the dealer also told me my fuel heater was shot. so they ordered a new one. it was $170. 00 or so. not a big deal. then i found out along with dodge and cummins that this part was discontinued. and the only thing dodge offers now is a "kit" that is $1035. 00... . i don't think so. I have been on the search for the fuel heater on line and on ebay. but no luck. i know it's gotta be out there somewhere. was hoping maybe someone here knows of a place that has it. i'm even thinking of used ones as long as they work. now this is the fuel heater on the fuel filter. not the heating grid on the intake. i hope someone can help me out. still blows my mind they discontinued it. I live in alaska so i'd like to have this fuel heater working. any help will be appreciated. thanks

Bovee,

Not sure what part of the country you're in, but I haven't had a fuel heater since I removed the stock fuel supply system probably 5 years or so ago. It gets pretty cold here in the winter sometimes down to 10+ and lower and I've not had any problems.

That's absurd to charge that much for something like that. I'm wondering if there's something in the after-market that would work? Gotta be someone out there that has an idea or item that can work.

Some have removed the entire fuel filter/heater cannister assembly when they go with an aftermarket pump and filter (fass/airdog etc). You might be able to get someone to sell you one if you can find someone willing to part with it. You might try checking some of the other dodge cummins sites as well for them.
