My apologies for asking what I'm sure is a very old question, but I can't seem to find what I need to know. I'm certain it was somewhere on the TDR website before I joined, but since the June 1 makeover, I can't find the answer.

I have a friend with a '93 D-350 CTD who is having difficulty getting his front tires properly balanced. I seem to recall a while back (Pre-June) a suggestion that the 93 models almost had to have the tires balanced on the truck due to "a special lugnut" or some such. If anyone has a link to where I might find this info so that I may print it out for him, both of us would greatly appreciate it. I might even talk him into joining TDR if things work out. ;)

Thanks Guys/Ladies for a truly great forum. I know there has to be few if not quite a few lady Dodge Cummins owners out there. BTW my wife has owned a Dakota P/U since before we ever met, and will eventually own a Ram CTD of her own one of these days.

swamp rat,

Use 2 tapered lug nuts off a first generation 3/4 ton truck on the D350 to align the wheels with the lug bolts. This is the only way you can get the wheels lined up correctly on the lug nuts. After you put on and tighten the other regular 1 ton nuts remove the 2 tapered nuts and put on the standard nuts in their place.

I carried a couple of the tapered 3/4 ton truck lug nuts in my tool box when I had my 92 D350 for that purpose.

Thank for that info Bill. I'll print this page and give it to him tomorrow night when he comes in to work. He will appreciate it too, I'm certain.

Then I'll put the move on him why he needs to sub up. ;)

Extra two cents

Dodge issued a tech bulletin on this subject # 22-02-92.

Remove all lug nuts from wheel, install two Part # 1273556 lug nuts (90 degree cone type) 180 degrees apart using a set of holes with the deeper recess and torque to 50 lbs. ft. Finagle the nuts and wheel while tightening to center the wheel on the nuts, once centered then install 6 of the normal style, torque to 50 lbs. ft. , replace the cone nuts with originals and torque to 50 lbs. ft. Last, torque all to 300-350 pound feet using alternating pattern.

i am a little confused

 I converted my 84 crew cab to a dually with some parts from 76 I had. None of my 3/4 or single wheel lug nuts will fit on my dually hubs. 3/4's are 1/2" and my dually's are 5/8". I have the nuts from the 91 1/2 that I got the dually wheels from on the truck right now. I ordered the parts from the service bulliten so I guess I will see when they come in.
