Im trying to replace the ball joints and cant seem to get the knuckle off. I got the upper one loose, there was some kind of sleave that went between the yoke and shaft of the ball joint. I was able to pry it up and out with a pickle-fork. Ive searched threads and never saw mention of the sleave and its not in the repair manual. Anyways the bottom one is left. Some say to beat the snot out of the knuckle with a hammer and it should pop free. How hard can I beat it? Any other suggestions? I dont have a torch. . And the sleave, do I reuse it?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about the sleave, can't say I've ever seen one. As far as gettin the lower balljoint out, you could use some wd40,but you have to beat the crap out of the side of the spindel for it to drop loose. :-laf

the sleeve in that the upper ball joint goes into is for the alignment different sleeves give you different caster or camber i always confuse the two. I'm not sure what your trying to do. Are you tring to het the knucle and ballkoint assembly off of the axle or remove the balljoint from the knuckle?

The balljoints are pressed into the knuckle. Im trying to remove it so i can change the balljoints. Im guessing I can just reuse the sleeve?
