Can't stay logged in?

If you're having a problem where your browser doesn't stay logged into TDR, and you can't post or access sections of the site, it might be related to cookies in your browser.

What is a cookie?
Despite what the media says, they don't by themselves violate your privacy. A cookie is a unique id a site can store in your browser, and only that site can retrieve it. If another site places ads on site, that site (like Google Adsense) can retrieve its cookies, but not others. TDR places login id cookies in your browser to connect it to your user id in our database. Without it, it can't know which user you are, if you're logged in, etc.

How do I clear TDR cookies to resolve login problems?

We've put together instructions for common desktop browsers below, for Windows, Mac

Chrome
Click the drop down menu button on the far top right. Click the More Settings menu item.
Click Privacy and security. Cookies and other site data.
Click See all site data and permissions.
In the search box on the top right, type: turbodieselregister
Click Remove next to each item.
Exit all instances of your browser.
Start your browser.
Log into www.turbodieselregister.com

Microsoft Edge
Click the drop down menu button on the far top right. Scroll down to and click the Settings menu item.
Cookies and site permissions -> Manage and delete cookies and site data -> See all cookies and site data
In the search box on the top right, type: turbodieselregister

One thing I've noticed is our Internet Service Provider (ISP) has been super aggressive on their DNS formatting and that has been blocking sites and causing havoc on out local network, requiring multiple log ins to some sites.

It was only happening when I was connected to my home ISP, if I used my wireless data it would work fine. It was hard to track it down to the ISP, but I finally caught a pop up showing it was them and they described it as "built in network protection"

There is a default setting to use the ISP providers DNS checking service, I changed that to be Google or one of the others and it fixed that.

This was a little different because it would randomally say "this web site can not provide a safe connection" and then would have to do the above process to clear it all out and a few hours later it would repeat the whole thing.

This was Altice / Optimum ISP. Kinda a pain, I don't know if it's something new they are looking for and are ahead of the game, or they are behind the times and it's outdated info? But it was not just the TDR it was a few other sites it did not like.

One particular thing that can happen is a DNS provider is supplying the old IP address. That IP works, but the SSL certificate for it is specific to the server only serving content through the Cloudflare content delivery network, and that will give the security warnings. We updated to use Cloudflare a few weeks ago, and though rare, that's when these reports can in!
