car seat in a second gen

my son is reaching the weight limit for a rear facing car seat. I am trying to turn the seat around and no matter how I do it I can not seem to get the seat in with out feeling like there is too much pressure on the window glass.



The car seat I have seems to be too tall for the seat back seat.



I the Recaro car seat. Does any one have a seat that they have been able to fit into a second gen truck.

I don't have a Recaro but all the car seats I use have an adjustment on the bottom to adjust the tilt of the seat (too much tilt and it will press against the glass). In the rear facing position the seat is tilted much further back to be safe. Forward facing is much more straight up. If your seat does not have any adjustment, it might be rear facing only. Check the Recaro manual or their website. I would not feel comfortable with the seat pressing on the glass either. What model Recaro is it?

Do you know the make and model of the seat you have. I tried to adjust it. No luck. I also tried the britax from my wifes car. Better but no go.

I have a third gen and had the same problem as you. What I did (because I've got two car seats in my truck, and not mounting in the middle) was pull up the head rest and have the top of the car seat rest against the two posts of the head rest.

If you are mounting in the center, then I would probably just roll up a towel between the back of the seat and car seat to bring the back of the car seat off the back glass.

The two carseats I'm using are both Britax - Roundabout and Marathon.

With my old car seats, I had to put a pillow between the car seat back and the back cusion. I replaced those car seat with booster seats that still have a back and they fit good without the pillow. I got these from Graco for $60 a piece.
