I see many people hauling cars on a wedge trailer with a box bed. When talking to my trailer manufacturer he said this was illegal because the box bed is considered cargo space even with a gooseneck. When I spoke with a Highway patrol officer he said he thought it was legal. Does anyone on here go through the scales with a wedge and box bed?

Why would a wedge car hauler be any different than any gooseneck or fifth wheel trailer? So what does the trailer builder say you need to do? Take the bed off or use a flatbed?

His school of thought is that you cannot exceed 50' of cargo space and the wedge is 48'. He thinks a flatbed is ok which doesn't really make sense to me because I could fit more cargo on the flatbed than in the box bed.

I think his Thinker is off a Notch .Nothing wrong with a pick/up truck with a Box pulling a wedge .Out of 10 truck's you see all 10 would be Box .
