:{ Just came back from the local "Soapy's" and for $7 it cleaned nothing. I have the Patriot Blue and was wondering if you guys get a decent wash? I used to run my 96 past this vendor and it worked well then. Now I wash the tru :{ ck with the dryoff towels!

whatever you do dont purchase mr clean's car wash system  that thing is fricken junk

What are you smoking?  I use the Mr Clean Car Wash system on my Truck, Jeep, Car and Trailer's and it works great.

Mr. Clean is awsome, the special soap they have gets the truck cleaner than anything I have ever used, the spot free rinse also works great, makes washing the truck a 20 minute job.

What kind of car wash is Soapy's? Is it a spinning brush type, or a no touch system?

When mines really dirty I go to the spinning brush car wash. When it just needs a rinse off I go to the no touch. If there's a lot of crap in the wheel wells, or after they salt the heck out of the roads, I'll go into the do it yourself bay and hit the underside really good. I rarely get the bucket and sponge out at home anymore.

I haven't notice any scratches or swirls in my paint yet.

That does bite though, spending $7 and not getting a decent wash.

My boy and I were on the way to the Sandia Showdown when I thought I'd try to wash the truck off. Seeing how it's got wide hips, (DRW) I cant go to any of the dive thru washes around here, we wnt to a "laser guided" auto wash. $5 later, I had a wet, dirty truck.

The only way I get a good clean truck is to do it by hand.

Which happens once a year whether I need it or not :-laf

Boy, it sure looks nice when it's clean (I have pictures to prove it!).

Too bad it's such a pin in the xxx.

Soap's is a no touch. Owner converted his old system (worked well) to one that cut the water, dry, and underwash. He is driving a new Lexus SUV and a new Dodge v-10 super truck. Go figure. . I look for his business to die.

I wondered how that Mr. Clean system worked?

We have a new touchless wash here that you can run a 3500DRW Quad cab thru. $7, for the super deluxe wash, really does a good job. Doesn't take all of the dirt and pile it up on the tailgate & rear bumper.

My dealer offers detailing for about a buck-fifty. They hand it over to the new-car prep guys and it comes back looking factory fresh. Wash, wax, tire/rubber dressing, vinyl cleaning, and vacuum. I see it as an annual "treat" for the lady in blue... otherwise, I just wait for a good soaking rain :-laf

I say for the best cleaning, it would have to be by hand. At least any of the car washes around here just won't cut it if you have the road film build up. Mainly them cutting back on the amount of soap put out. I usually have to do hand wash at least once a month if the weather permits, but there again we don't have to really deal with the snow and ice that much.

I still don't understand why something other than salt can't be used on the roads for you guy's up north that's bio-degradable and not corrosive to the vehicles.

I agree with Tony - hand wash is the only really effective method. I won't take mine to any car wash anymore after I cracked a cab clearance light at one. I wish my dealer would offer detailing like KCJackson's.

I have a Mr. Clean system that I bought over a year ago. I stopped using it because I believe the soap strips wax. Now I just use it for the filtered water; when they say it won't leave spots they are absolutely correct.

These trucks are so huge washing is a massive PITA.

yep... i very much dislike washing my truck. that is why it gets done so very few times on my truck. i think next year, someone else will be paid to wash it [and wax and detail inside & outside] i'll let someone who likes doing that stuff do it. .

A MEN you hit the nail on the head. every time I got to was my truck its a fiasco. Tar all over it, ran over a pile of grease on a job site some where, and then its all over the rocker panels and what not. Just not worth the aggravation any more. I'll take it to the do it your self and spray it off, but when it needs a real good washing and wax job its getting sent out.

camel filters in a box, sir  :-laf

IMHO the soap runs out too fast, and the filter used to make the water soft craps out way to soon... and my truck still spotted... .

Yup. My roomate's girlfriend left one of those Mr Clean systems behind when she moved out. I tried it out one day, and after about 10 mintues, it found it's way to the trash can.

Washing the truck isn't too bad. Usually every 2 weeks or so I'll go and pressure wash it at the quarter wash and if it's nice out I'll go home and wash it with soap and a bucket. Stays clean enough. Try to wax once or twice a year. Haven't done the truck yet though.

I always wash by hand, and then dry it up with an absorber. I've found the mister clean to work pretty good, but I think it takes a longer time than using my pressure washer. I like to be able to really get the undercarriage, behind the bumpers etc. . I'm actually not right upstairs, I enjoy washing my rig by hand, gives me a chance to look it over real close, check for new paint chips and stuff. I've been in the autobody repair/restoration biz for 23 years now, anyone in the northeast that wants someone else to detail their truck, I'll be happy to handle it for ya! For those interested in finding a great wax, (IMO, they all work good), but I've been happiest with the length of time that Collinite's # 845 Insultaor Wax seems to last, keeping that nice beading up wash after wash.

Lithia gives you a complete detail with every oil change! Such a deal! Oil change is $40 and that comes with a complete detail

That is a good deal for all that, only thing I would like better is for me to supervise them especially while they are doing the oil change. :D

see, i hate washing my truck, but i hate it looking like crap even more. the problem is i dont have a driveway or anywhere to wash it and vacume it out as offten as i would like so it doesnt get done much. i like the pressure washer ones to get the crap off then to hand wash it.

if i cant do that then i wont wash it. all my road trips to AZ and he gets dirty FAST
