Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting New knife

So my now former boss came to me asking my opinion/thoughts on how to convey it to my colleagues.

Told him his comments to me last week were fine and I'm done thinking about it.

Instead his email to everyone said that I chose that route for personal commitments. Making it sound like like I wanted this new path. Why, so no one else would start looking elsewhere?

Pretty $hitty if you ask me. My opinion of him and the president are now 180 from it was.

So after being canned they contact you and want your opinion on how to convey it??? That takes some sack. I think that I might have resorted to sign language at that point......

I'm sure they are trying not to scare off the troops. A dismissal of a key employee can even bring the bankers sniffing around a business wondering if they are going to get loan payments on time. People talk.

I agree with your assessment in your final line above.

You will find something, you just need a week or so for the shock to wear off. Get onto Linked In, etc. and get your name out there. I assume that the former employer will still offer a good reference where you did keep it together (better than I would have done).

In 07 I got "downsized" along with a bunch of others. After working there 30 years I was devastated.
But, after a few days I stayed positive, and went about looking for employment.
Bottom line, that was the year I made the most $$. 24 weeks severance, able to immediately draw unemployment, and I found a job (albeit temporary) quickly so I double dipped for quite a while.
In the end I landed several steps up on the pay ladder, met some great people, and actually enjoyed my job more.
PLUS because I fell up the ladder, I was able to retire (ok semi retire) 23 years earlier than I had planned.
This same scenario happened to most of us who got let go.
Stay positive. Look at it as a big window of opportunity.

And now the kicker...I am actually working for them again right now as a contract engineer on an hourly basis. The best of both worlds for me....work winters, goof off and travel all summer on the boat.
