Is this able to be added on or am I stuck with not being able to get one. I just called a dealer and they could not find one to be added on. From what they told me it is either done at the factory or it is not. Was this only standard in 2014 trucks and up? I read another post where it is in the settings and I did not see it on my screen for the settings.

I wanted the in-bed camera so included it when I upgraded the truck. Probably is....they moved the backup camera from the radio to the rear view mirror which is difficult to see. After using the in-bed camera while hooking my GN trailer I realized the camera sucks for this. Its difficult to see depth and still had to get out of the truck 3 or 4 times to get the truck close enough to drop the trailer. Point is ---- I don't think the camera is worth it especially since I probably use the backup camera 100 times before using the in-bed camera once, but that is just my opinion.

I wonder if you could hook up the stock third brake light/camera combo using an aftermarket hookup? Probably way more difficult to get the 'stock' setup working.

Just used the camera for the first time today. Absolute waste of Money. It Shows up in my big screen. I can see the tool box real welll but the hitch is too small to see very well. Maybe it can be adjusted?

Ron please let us know if you able to adjust the camera was looking into adding that as one of my options when I order mine. Nice to know it's a waste if money.

That's good to know, as having the back up camera on the mirror sucks also. Yes I drove Ron's truck!!! The Laramie that I drove in Bellingham had the back up on the 8.4 screen and it was good!

So I will quit looking for that option! Snoking

Would like to put a camera and monitor on my 06. I see one from Walmart $80. 3.5 screen. It is a Peak brand. Love the one on our new car. Don't care for the one on son's Ford's rear mirror.

I thought they have a lock pick for the new trucks but I don't see it listed now, might have to call them to verify

Hope I can change the backup to the big screen.

I have a new Laramie with he backup camera in the 8.4. Truck was three days old and I backed out of my garage and into my son's truck denting my new bumper. The Toyota fared much better. I only backed into one other thing in almost 50 years of driving. He pulled into the empty spot while I was working under my truck, I used only my left mirror and the beeper only is good for parallel parking. Except for in the dark mirrors are much better, just gotta use em. I received lots of fecal matter for that one

Does your truck have the REC NAV radio? If it does, the Lockpic linked to in post #2, may be able to show the image on the NAV screen, but the 06 REC radio may not have the video input in the rear. The late 06 through last production has that video input. When I installed lockpick on my 07 REC NAV radio, they advised to remove radio and look for the video input on the back of the radio, if you wanted to use the video input.

Ron, have you talked to RAM about this. The closes Big Horn has it on the mirror. I found some distance ones without the bed camera and if money falls out of a tree, I may have to travel.

SNOKING

No, I am going to read the manual some more and look at the camera to see if it's adjustable. Does RAM have a tech line?

The 2014s came with either the Cargo Camera, in the radio, and the back up in the mirror. Agree that this is not the best for us older guys with the back up in the mirror being so small but I for one love the Cargo camera being in the mirrow. Have not had any issues backing the 5th wheel or the GN trailer onto their couplings. I did not want this option but it came in the truck I located. I for one would not want a truck with out this. JMHO, different strokes for.

For me, the bed camera seemed a bit useless......having a picture of what's in the bed in the big screen made no sense. When I hook up my 5er, I just use the rearview mirror, like all my other trucks. When I was test driving trucks, I drove one with the back up camera in the rearview and, with my old eyeballs, it was too hard to see. Then I drove the one I bought which had the backup camera on the big screen, I was sold:) THAT screen I can actually see!:-laf FYI, for some reason, if you order the auto wiper/headlights, you only get the backup camera and no cargo.......

I would give a man the bed camera from my 14 if I could have the back up camera in the 8.4. On my 07 non-nav I have the Edge licence plate camera going into a Pinoneer double din head unit. Works great.

I have the cargo camera. It is invaluable when hooking up the gooseneck. In my 98 I could see the ball out the back window. With the Crewcab, this is no longer possible. The camera is a lifesaver, otherwise I would be in and out a bazillion times.

I'm curious how the cargo camera would help loading a slide-in truck camper guiding it between the fender wells. My truck isn't a daily driver and I don't tow, and once the camper is in the truck bed, a truck mounted rear camera would be useless since there is a 3-ft overhang on the camper that would block an above the rear license plate mounted camera. All that would be visible would the black and grey water holding tanks, the back side of the camper's rear step bumper, and possibly the bottom of the on board generator.

I never use the rear view camera in my wife's Honda except to check if our electric entrance gate successfully closes behind us when either leaving or returning home in the dark.
