They are still pretty new, but numerous months in and 4000 some miles, I STILL cannot get grease in these things. I've heard they take a bit to break in before you can sometimes get grease in, but I'm seriously about 12 months in.

The shop really torqued them on - could they be too tight, or is this normal?

These products are relatively new... I would call Carli directly or pm here on tdr-- carlisuspension and I am SURE that they will answer your questions. Please DO let us know what they say!!!

Try raising the wheels off the ground taking the weight off them and then try greasing them. If that doesn't work also try turning the wheels from left to right while trying to grease.

Yeah, I tried with the wheel totally off the ground. Actually had my tire shop try too, just to make sure I wasn't nuts. They told me it isn't unusual but that they break in. They also asked where to find those ball joints with the huge tops...

Was just a little concerned because the shop that put them on really put the nuts on tight.

Might give Carli a call.

I have your answer/solution. I, too have the Carli uppers and I couldn't get them to take any grease. After a call to Carli, they explained to me that they are sealed and don't get greased after the initial install. That's why they come with red synthetic grease. Once full of grease, you could actually remove the zerk fitting and plug the hole. Very high quality piece, with o-rings sealing grease in/dirt out.
