I saw an earlier post regarding the failures of Carlisle trailer tires, specifically the ST225-R15 L/D; were these a failure of a certain run of tires or Carlisle trailer tires in general? I just bought some of these in the size above, but may take them back if these are a problem tire. I get enough problems without the tires coming loose and beating the trailer to pieces. Anyone heard of or used the "GreenBall" brand?

My trailer weighs 5800lbs. dry and approx. 7500lbs wet. 1300lbs of it on the pin.

Carlisle Trailer Tires !

I posted that blowout photo. I had a bubble on the R/Rear and put the spare on. After about 350 miles that Puppy blew up. ! The little rubber teats are still on it. My tire guy tells me Carlisle tires are used on about 70% of new trailers because the Manu. get them for almost nothing. I am dumping mine and going to D rated bias ply he says will do the job. I would dump them tires but thats JMO as I am Biased.

Thanks for the reply, I am real leary of these tires now, and have considered the bias ply tires myself. The ones I was looking at, came in a load range D, with a 8py rating. They look a lot heavier duty then the load range D Carlisles. I can believe the manufacturers use the tires due to cost, as the tire is warranted by the manufacturer, so the trailer manufacturer assumes no liablility.

I'm no tire expert. Mine were ST 225 75Rs Load Range D and I want nothing to do with them. If you have the Load Range E, they may be ok.
