I know this is not correct but if anyone that lives in Carlsbad NM could PM me I've got a job opportunity to relocate out there from Dallas.

Wondering about the area and such, emissions testing and stuff.

Since nobody from the the Carlsbad area has replied, I will give you a little info. I do not live in that area, but I live in the Farmington, NM area.

New Mexico does not do emissions testing except in Bernalillo County (Albuquerque). Hopefully it stays that way, as the dpf fell off my truck. I have spent quite a bit of time just north of Carlsbad, in Roswell because my son lives there. He is a firearms instructor at the Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, which is between Roswell and Carlsbad.

I do know that the Carlsbad area is crazy busy because of the oilfield work in the Permian Basin.

New Mexico use to do emissions on diesels in Bernalillo County, however, it was determined that it was against the law to do so. Refund checks were issued to people who had to pay for being smogged and this requirement was no longer valid on diesels. Now, only gassers are smogged.

I use to live in the DFW area (Flower Mound) and the weather will be warm down there, however you wont deal with the humidity. As far as snow, yea a tad, but more than likely nothing bad. Once in a while you'll have that eastern front hold up down there, but their rare. Your in the desert, so you will see the cool downs at night, nothing bad though.

How's the heat day/night summer? Lots of snow in the winter?

This would be a big change from DFW.

It is much more dry than DFW. It is pretty hot in the summer, 100 degrees plus, but very dry. It does not get much snow in Carlsbad, but the mountains to the West of there will get quite a bit.
