I seek the voice of experience with carport canopies. Mainly looking for shade (enclosures OK but not necessary). Hoping for something not too unwieldy to remove fabric for wind..don't want to feel like I"m sailing. Sun will wear it out faster than rain here, and no snow/ice to deal with.
Anticipated dimensions: max 10' wide, preferably no taller than 7'6" at side frame posts, 16-20 feet long, flat foot--it's going on concrete pad and I have lots of heavy things for feet and stand-off tie downs.
If you've found a brand that seems fair value, doesn't say "steel posts" when it should say "toothpicks" I thank you in advance for your input.

The US Air Force uses canvas covers for big truck inspection and perform repairs often and replace every 4 to 5 years.

This is not what you asked for but what I purchased all metal, customizable carport kit from Metal Mart. I purchased kit, modified longer posts to give me 13 feet at high point and 9 feet at low point. They are designed to be free standing... mine cost under $1K out the door.

They can be screwed together, but my BIL is master welder, so we welded the frame.

here's mine:

Please let us know what you decide.

Anyhoo,

Thanks for the input gents. I’m limited to 10 wide max, and probably sticking to fabric “tent” style for portability, but the search continues.
